Wine & Dine Series 1

The Tangier Table For 12

An Intimate Dinner & Wine Experience

Join Us at The Table

February 7 | 5–9 pm
Iola Gardens
$145 per person | 12 seats available

Join us for a rare, candlelit evening at Iola Gardens. The Tangier Table is an intimate, Tangier-inspired dinner and wine experience with Liz Ophoven of Wine Shop Vashon.

Drawing from the warmth, spice, and generosity of Moroccan cuisine, Liz will prepare a thoughtfully paced, multi-course meal designed to be savored slowly. Each dish will be paired with beautifully selected wines that complement the depth, brightness, and layered flavors of the table.

In addition to wine pairings, the evening will also feature a floral-inspired non-alcoholic cocktail, created with the season in mind. Liz is bringing in notes of dried roses — inspired by the quiet, lingering roses found all around Vashon in winter. Subtle, fragrant, and deeply grounding.

Taking place one week before Valentine’s Day, this gathering is an invitation to celebrate all kinds of love — romantic, platonic, chosen family, friendship, and community. In the heart of winter, when we’re thirsty for warmth and connection, gathering around a shared table is one of the most meaningful ways we share love.

Expect an intimate group, generous pours, a beautifully considered meal, and moments that unfold naturally around the table.

This is a small, intentional gathering with just 12 seats available.

Liz Ophoven

Owner, Wine Shop Vashon
Cook, Wine Curator, Community Builder

Liz Ophoven’s culinary journey began at her grandfather’s side, where she learned that great food is about more than recipes — it’s about gathering people, creating connection, and nourishing both body and spirit. Those early lessons around the family table shaped everything that followed.

From 2018–2025, Liz served as a retreat cook across the country, creating deeply nourishing dining experiences designed to bring people together. It was in these intimate settings that she refined her ability to craft meals that foster connection — work that continues to inform her decade-long project, Nourishing Journeys, a cookbook exploring food as a path to belonging.

With a BFA and an artist’s eye for composition, Liz approaches each dish as both sustenance and celebration. In 2023, she brought this vision home to Vashon with Wine Shop Vashon — a wine shop, café, and community hub where scratch-made food meets thoughtfully curated wines from around the world.

For The Tangier Table, Liz brings her gift for creating transformative, table-centered experiences to an intimate wine dinner — slow-braising fragrant tagines while selecting wines that honor Morocco’s vibrant spice palette, and inviting guests to journey together through flavor, story, and shared warmth.
